Two New Branches Join ARTA

We welcome two new branches - the Rocky View Retired Teachers' Association and the Okanagan Retired Teachers' Association. Rocky View RTA, headed by Mr. Jim Weed, serves the area generally immediately north of Calgary. RVRTA is still in the process of organizing themselves and establish a web presence. A new Satellite Branch was also approved at the 2007 ARTA AGM and we now have the Okanagan Retired Teachers' Association with Mr. Fred Resler serving as inaugural President. Alberta retired teachers living in these two areas should contact their Branch Presidents for details of meetings and events. Click here to go to the Directory of Branch Officers and Representatives

Branch Web Presence

A number of branches are developing their own websites which ARTA can provide free hosting services. Some have chosen to use the subdomain feature of the ARTA website and others have chosen to register their own domain names for about $20.00 USDA per year - or less. We look forward to the new websites from the Medicine Hat, Rockyview, Foothills, and the St. Albert Branches.  A newly constituted Communications/Technology Committee is working at enhancing the communication between ARTA and its memberhip as well as better sharing of ideas and news among Branches.

OKARTA - Okanagan Alberta Retired Teachers' Association
Celebrates Becoming The First
ARTA Satellite Branch

Thursday November 1, 2007 was a day to celebrate for the retired Alberta teachers in the Okanagan. The event marked OKARTA's acceptance as a Satellite Branch at the recent ARTA AGM.  OKARTA is made up of retirees from Vernon to Oliver with the greatest number being from the Kelowna area. Meetings usually involve a little business, an outing or activity, and a lot of socializing.

Thanks go to founding president Ron Rhine whose vision started the process two years ago. Thank you ARTA for your support along the way. We look forward to continued good communication and involvement in retired teacher affairs.

Any retired teachers moving to the Okanagan can join our group by contacting Marilyn or Fred Resler: mresler@shaw.ca or call (250) 767 2727

Branches are encouraged to send news articles or web links to be included on this website to the ARTA office in Edmonton.
