Retired members of the United Nurses of Alberta are now eligible to join the Alberta Public Sector Group Benefit Program, sponsored by ARTA. As we are unable to easily contact retired UNA members, we request that if ARTA members know any retired nurses that they please pass on the message that any retired nurses who were members of the United Nurses of Alberta and are 55 years of age are now eligible to join the Alberta Public Sector Group Benefit Program. Of importance for these new, potential plan-participants is that they have been given an open enrolment period from September 1, 2010 to January 31, 2011 in which to enroll in a plan designed for them. They will be able to enroll in that five-month enrollment period without medical evidence of insurability. This offer is only available to UNA retirees. If they do not enroll within this open enrolment period they would still be eligible to join the plan but would have to meet medical requirements to get entry into the plan.

Current retirees who wish to join our plan health plans have 60 days after they lose their employer benefits to get into our plan without medical evidence of insurability.
